Youth Folk Dancers
There are two youth folk dance groups for members of the Annunciation.
The Hara Group (Hara means Joy in Greek) is for children in 2nd through 5th grades.
The Glenzethes (Merry Makers) is for students in 6th through 12th grades.
These students learn and perform the traditional folk dances of Greece.
With a focus on Hellenic culture, they perform at our annual festival and
at other events during the year.
There are stewardship requirements to participate in the dance program.
These include regular attendance at Divine Liturgy and Sunday School
attendance and participation in other youth and church activities.
Regular weekly dance practices are held on Wednesdays from August 15 through the Greek
Festival in November. Monthly practices are held during the rest of the
year. Regular attendance at weekly fall practices is required as well as
meeting other stewardship requirements in order to perform at the
Festival.
Dance instructors are Manolis Vatsolakis and Liz Varvouris.
Dance advisors are Laura Spraggins and Evie Dampier.
